Jump in your Hummer and head straight for “El Rey” (The King), a Mayan ruin and archaeological site near the Cancun hotel zone. Spend about an hour here, discovering Mayan culture, local wildlife (including hundreds of iguanas, which you can feed) and the natural beauty.
Then, take a 20-minute drive along an off-road path through jungle and swampland to a cenote, an underground sinkhole with crystal-clear waters. This cenote has some of the clearest and purest water you'll ever see -- so clear you can see all the way to the bottom of the 130-foot (40-meter) sinkhole without a problem! The open cenote has a zipline, which you can use to plunge into the refreshing water.
Also at the cenote, you'll learn about the importance of the area to the Mayan people and their religion. Learn about geological aspects of caves, including stalagmites, stalactites and the natural formation of underground rivers that are found all over the Yucatan Peninsula. You can swim, cliff dive and snorkel at these natural wells, or spend more time on the zipline.
Next on the itinerary is a small fishing village named Puerto Morelos. You'll have time to shop for Mexican handcrafts and go sightseeing, or spend time walking along the beach or swimming in the water. You'll also enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the town’s local restaurants, where you can savor the true taste of Mexico.
Your last stop is Croco Cun, an interactive zoo. Here, you'll have the chance to feed and interact with different animals, including monkeys, macaws, snakes, deer and, of course, crocodiles! Get as close to the animals as you dare, and learn interesting facts about them before hopping back in your Hummer and driving back to Cancun!
